WHAT’S AT STAKE: As we celebrate the upcoming 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we know that access to abortion is on the line like never before. From blatantly unconstitutional abortion bans, to filling our judicary with anti-abortion judges and threats of overturning Roe, our rights and freedoms are at stake. Already too many people across the country don’t have access to abortion. Let’s be clear — when politicians attack healthcare, the policies disproportionately affect people of color, women, the LGBTQ community, and young people. We must work to ensure access to health care — including access to abortion — does not depend on who you are, where you live, or how much money you make.
What Planned Parenthood is Working Towards: Momentum is on our side. States are taking bold steps to enshrine abortion rights. More Americans than ever before support abortion access. Illinois, New York, Vermont, and Rhode Island showed us what’s possible when we come together to protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care.
The fact is, the majority of Americans want more access to health care, not less. Nearly 8 in 10 Americans do not want to see Roe overturned. We must demand elected leaders listen.
- Record-high 77 percent of Americans say they do not want to see Roe overturned.
- There is no state in this country where banning abortion is popular.
